Changelog

current version: 20261021 beta

Below is a summary of changes for app users — what a child, citizen or caregiver may notice. Technical details and information for instance administrators are in the project repository (CHANGELOG.md in full form).

Versioning: YYYYMMDD (date). In accordance with Keep a Changelog.

202610212026-10-21

Clearer activities and guidance

  • Updated the portal’s libraries and runtime.
  • In the signs game, you choose when to continue after reading the explanation. In Classroom, correct answers receive clear confirmation without asking you to choose again.
  • Instructions in Missions and Classroom are simpler, with clearer 112 practice activities and alarm guidance. Facilitator notes and different ways to respond remain available.
  • Returning from a game takes you back to its card in the list. Printing Missions guidance and help cards includes all content, even when the on-screen guidance is collapsed.
  • These changes apply to both the Polish and English activities.

202610122026-10-12

Clearer alarm game and start panel

  • The alarm placement game now shows rooms from the side. Options A–D display mounting heights and distances, and the key rules from the Polish State Fire Service guide are visible before you answer.
  • Illustration loading in the start panel and the framing of the forest characters have been improved.
  • The PL / EN switch now matches the other buttons. The panel, help and film actions sit alongside one another on the home page, with a comfortable layout on phones.

Płomyczek in Polish and English

  • An English version and a PL / EN language switch are now available. Your chosen language is retained as you navigate and sign in.
  • Games, Classroom, Janek’s Missions, Help, and the user and administration panels are available in English. The cipher and word search have English words and matching puzzle layouts.
  • Assistants respond in your chosen language. Administrators can provide separate English names, descriptions and suggested questions.
  • The home page includes the presentation film in Polish or English. A note about the knowledge sources explains the Polish context of the materials and legal references.
  • Column widths and the conversation preview layout have been improved in the administration panel.
  • Open the presentation film with the button next to “How does it work?”. Closing the window stops playback.
  • The homepage now presents the assistants’ current features, twenty games, Classroom and Janek’s Missions.
  • Light mode has clearer panels, buttons and a redesigned carousel. Contrast and the mobile layout have been improved.
  • English greetings, deletion confirmations and screen-reader labels have been completed. Chat history navigation also works when zoomed in on English pages.
  • The start screen now places the voice conversation button next to the text conversation button in both languages.
  • English replies can be read aloud using a dedicated English app voice. Readout settings are saved separately for Polish and English.
  • Switching language or stopping a conversation releases its generation lock. A saved question can be retried in the same conversation.
  • Response preparation now has a time limit, so a slow search or translation cannot block later questions.

20261011-h42026-10-11

Microphone after interrupting a response

  • Changed app voice playback on iPhone to reduce problems starting the next recording.
  • After you interrupt a reply, the button briefly shows “Preparing microphone…”. Tap again to start your next question; the conversation history is kept.
  • Improved how recordings end and how browser-reported interruption events are handled.

20261011-h32026-10-11

Follow-up questions in voice chat

  • Improved switching from a voice answer to the next question. The player reuses the earlier preparation instead of repeating it each time the microphone is turned on.
  • The “I'm listening” message appears once audio capture starts. If recording fails to start or is interrupted, a hint is shown and you can try again.
  • After you finish speaking, there is a short step to save your question. If the browser does not confirm the end of recording, the recognised text stays ready to send manually in the same conversation.
  • Improved playback preparation on iPhone. If the browser blocks the voice, you can replay the saved answer.

20261011-h22026-10-11

Custom questions and easier chat

  • In the “Personas” panel, you can add, edit and delete manual suggestions for each assistant. The custom list takes priority and also works when the generator is unavailable.
  • Suggestions and voice settings open on demand. On phones, the conversation gets more space; choosing a question keeps your unsent draft.
  • Your saved voice choice is kept when you reopen the conversation.
  • Conversations now have a clear Delete button. At the bottom of your own list, you can delete your entire history; an administrator can delete a selected conversation in the panel. Each action requires confirmation.
  • The Terms of Service cover voice conversations, suggestions, games, Classroom, Missions and deleting your account and history. The policies explain how the security log and local progress work.

Tidied-up games and illustrations

  • All games share the same cards and a clear split by topic. The extra Missions block and the combined four-game shield have been removed. New exercises keep their label and author information.
  • Centred the AI Assistants and Classroom illustrations and fixed the scenes on the Cyber Detective, Safe Decisions Map and Emergency 112 covers.

20261011-h12026-10-11

Assistants' knowledge base

  • Assistants refer to their knowledge base when they can't find an answer. The child and Citizen greetings use the same term.

202610112026-10-11

Smoother conversation start

  • Material search is prepared while the portal starts up. The first chat doesn't have to wait for the local model to load.
  • CPU usage has been tuned for the assistant and indexing. The downloaded model stays in a separate cache between updates.

202610102026-10-10

Consistent portal

  • The name Płomyczek 3.0 and updated Help describing conversations, games, Classroom and missions.
  • A new slide about Classroom and missions, four illustrations in a shared panoramic format and comic-style scenes with a clearly shown hazard.
  • Easier-to-use cards and buttons on phones. Mission settings are only saved once the user chooses them.
  • The policies now describe the new activities. Frontend security measures and dependencies have been updated.

Classroom and available missions

  • Classroom and Janek’s Missions are available in the education dashboard after logging in. The missions menu points to picture-based learning and PJM materials for grown-ups.
  • The home screen has a refreshed illustration showing the firefighter's face, plus news about Classroom and Janek's Missions.
  • The administrator now has an overview of active accounts and aggregated page views by browser, device and traffic source, with CSV export.
  • Public pages have organized canonical URLs for plomyczek.cnbop.pl, a sitemap and information for search engines.
  • The new “Classroom” tab includes three sessions for grades 1–3. Janek's stories, shared decisions and activities help children talk about hazards, getting out safely and calling for help.
  • In “Janek’s Missions” there are nine tasks with pictures and explanations. After logging in, you can practice without sound, speaking or rushing, and with larger text too.
  • Janek gives hints on what to do in the task and explains safe choices. He uses ready-made lesson hints.
  • Presentation view makes working with a projector easier. Scenarios can be printed, and the tutorial skipped or reopened.
  • Next to the scenarios, you will find KG PSP sources and optional tasks to do with a caregiver. “Classroom” is a pilot version for consultation and trials with children.
  • Children's answers are not saved. Finishing a session means going through the scenario, with no grades or rankings.

20261009-h42026-10-09

Illustrations and logging in

  • New panoramic illustrations on the second and third slides show families preparing for emergencies and children learning through games.
  • The image and sign-in form form a single card. On phones, the illustration is a short header above larger fields.
  • Registration uses the same layout. Account handling and 2FA remain unchanged.
  • All slides share the same height. Changing slides does not shift the page content, even with enlarged text.
  • Slides appear in random order and change every 7 seconds. The pause button and keyboard controls let you stop the automatic rotation; the reduced motion preference is respected.
  • Registration has its own illustration and clearly states that a new account awaits administrator approval.
  • The Contact tab contains the app creator's details. The home page shows how AI, expert knowledge and games come together in safety education.

20261009-h32026-10-09

Janek protects forests

  • The comic-style slider on the home page presents news, civil protection and games. Slides can be changed with buttons, the keyboard or by swiping.
  • The banner and project description form a single section in the Płomyczek palette. The dark theme is the default, and if you choose the light theme, your choice is still remembered.
  • The start panel now has a “What's new” section with information about the assistants' knowledge of forest protection.
  • New descriptions of Janek and Citizen better present the project's purpose. Once signed in, a link to the dashboard replaces the invitation to create an account.
  • The skip-navigation link appears only when using a keyboard.

20261009-h22026-10-09

Guests online

  • Next to the signed-in account counter, the number of active guest sessions from the last 5 minutes (default) is shown. Hidden tabs don't renew activity.
  • Random session identifiers expire quickly. The counter does not store IP addresses or browsing history. After signing in, the session is no longer counted as a guest.
  • On a phone, both indicators have their own row below the logo and menu.
  • The theme button now displays correctly on first page load and follows the system theme.

20261009-h12026-10-09

Greeting and questions

  • A child's greeting starts with just “Hi!”, without the assistant's name.
  • The generator creates short questions with material passage numbers. The app attaches the original text and page, and the content still requires review.
  • The fallback model can also help when the first model’s proposals fail verification. A suggestion error does not save a falsely empty question pool.

202610092026-10-09

Greetings and questions from the materials

  • Child and Citizen get extended greetings with example topics, safety rules and an explanation of the role of source materials.
  • The generator first reads text from the RAG index. Short quotes are checked against the same passage, and altered quotes or numbers are not allowed.
  • Custom titles starting with “Chat with” are kept.
  • Suggestions and voice settings are just above the message box. On phones, you can scroll the suggested questions sideways.

Clearer voice conversation

  • A green animation means the microphone is on, and a blue one means the assistant is speaking. Detected speech makes the listening animation stronger.
  • While generating, the waiting time is shown in seconds, even when the text is ready but the voice is still being prepared.
  • A natural “Generating answer” message replaces the notice about preparing read-aloud. You can interrupt the speech and start your next question with a button.
  • Piper keeps the sentence order and retries only the voice fragment after a temporary busy state, without asking the question again.

Safety

  • Updated interface dependencies with security fixes and checked access control for conversations.

20261008-h62026-10-08

Comic-style map of safe decisions

  • A new house cross-section, rooms, stairs and assembly point in the style of the backpack illustration. Storm, smoke, evacuation and flood each have their own drawings.
  • Larger spot numbers and clearer choice cards. The correct spot is highlighted only after the right answer.
  • The vector board fits your phone and stays sharp when zoomed.

20261008-h52026-10-08

Comic-style backpack

  • A complete set of drawings of the backpack and 14 items. Vector illustrations stay sharp on phones and when zoomed in.
  • Larger pictures, calm card colors and a clearer check button. You can still drag items, click and use the keyboard.
  • Fixed unfinished code and missing illustrations. The pictures no longer give away answers before the backpack is checked.

20261008-h42026-10-08

Questions from materials

  • Valid questions are no longer lost because of a single faulty element in the model's response. The system still checks PDF citations and matches questions to the audience.
  • Quote checking accounts for PDF typography and hyphenation. Questions about prohibitions may have a negative answer without suggesting dangerous actions.
  • The panel shows the selected generator and distinguishes between waiting in the queue and generating. A failed attempt keeps earlier questions and shows the cause.

20261008-h32026-10-08

Easier-to-play games

  • Backpack: drag items with the mouse, or by the handle on a phone. You can still choose items by clicking or with the keyboard.
  • Consistent illustrations with ink outlines and calm colors. Clearer boards, shorter instructions and a code key for entering letters.
  • In the menu, “Games” appear above “My account”.
  • Category shortcuts make it easier to choose a game. On phones, the word search list appears above the board.

20261008-h22026-10-08

Four new missions

  • Emergency Backpack, Safety Code, Safe Decisions Map and Cyber Detective — new illustrations and exercises based on the “Wiedza moją Tarczą” guides. Exercises by Paweł Florek; interactive adaptation: Płomyczek.
  • A NEW badge, explanations of decisions, calm replays and a personal shield for four completed missions on this device.
  • Sources next to answers are temporarily hidden. The assistant still uses the materials, and the conversation context is preserved.

20261008-h12026-10-08

Mobile menu and Safari

  • The menu and conversation list have a separate screen with a close button and a single scrollable area. Sign-out and all links remain available.
  • In zoomed view, panels fit the visible area. An extra menu button lets you open navigation after scrolling the zoomed page.
  • The message box has a simple bar. Suggestions, retry and settings are in the scrollable content; they do not disappear on short screens.
  • On a short screen or at high zoom, the conversation uses normal page scrolling. You can still zoom the text and the page.

202610082026-10-08

Separate voice conversation

  • “Talk to the assistant” in the menu opens a separate screen with listening and read-aloud animations. You start each new utterance with a button.
  • “Finish and send” ends the recording, and “Cancel recording” discards it. The question is sent after the microphone closes.
  • The transcript and conversation context are shared with the text chat. You can retry an unfinished response or listen to the last one again.
  • A voice error stops the read-aloud queue. If the browser can't recognize speech, you can switch to text. Children's accounts still use the app's read-aloud voice.

Easier on your phone

  • A simpler message bar. Voice chat buttons have their own fixed place below the scrolling content.
  • Emojis stay in replies but are not read aloud. Important numbers and the number 112 are kept.

20261007-h12026-10-07

Clearer chat

  • Ubuntu font, clear headings and well-organized lists in responses.
  • Materials show the extracted publication title and the established year; long names also fit on a phone. Expanding shows the full file name, an excerpt and a button to open the PDF.
  • “Retry response” keeps the question and context in the same conversation, even after an interruption or an earlier error. A submission ID prevents the question from being duplicated after a lost connection.

Voice conversation

  • The animated panel shows listening, preparing and reading out the reply. You can end the voice conversation with one button.
  • One-time dictation adds text to your draft. Conversation mode sends what you say and resumes listening after the reply is read aloud; availability depends on your browser and its permissions.
  • Children’s accounts keep the app’s read-aloud voice; external speech recognition is disabled.

202610072026-10-07

Import multiple PDFs

  • In the documents panel, you can select multiple PDFs, choose a collection and upload them one by one. Each file has its own upload result.
  • You can pause uploading after the current file and resume the rest. Reaching the server limit stops the queue; files accepted earlier are not uploaded again.
  • After a connection error, check the document list before selecting the file again. Unzip ZIP files before selecting PDFs.

Citizen — civil protection

  • The assistant's description and scope focus on civil protection: alerts, evacuation, family plans, first aid and emergency preparedness.
  • Response instructions have been clarified for a smoking vehicle in a garage, choking and alarm installation. Advice for residents considers their safety and does not shift the tasks of trained rescuers onto them.

20261006-h32026-10-06

Easier chatting

  • The notice about external processing stays above the chat; you don’t need to confirm it again with a checkbox. Details and the privacy policy are one click away.
  • After 30 seconds, a message about a longer wait appears. The system does not automatically send a second question.
  • More room for chat on phones: a shorter message field, scrollable suggestions, collapsible voice settings and height that fits the screen. Accessibility of the menu and conversation list has been improved.
  • A greeting, thank-you or goodbye no longer displays random PDF materials or resumes an earlier unanswered question.

Games and administration

  • The “Find the CO sources” game has a clear goal, hints tailored to each mistake and a separate option for when no device burns fuel.
  • In the users panel, you can generate and set a new password and delete an account. These operations require confirmation with the administrator password and a current 2FA code; deleting linked children requires additional confirmation.
  • Role and account status changes also require the administrator password and a fresh 2FA code.

20261006-h22026-10-06

Question generator from materials

  • The generator uses the model and fallback set in the persona assigned to the collection. With an external model, Ollama is not required.
  • The administrator can choose the generator for a document if the collection has several personas.
  • Sensitive materials are not sent to the external generator. Provider approval and checking questions against PDF quotes have been kept.
  • Clearer error messages; a failed attempt keeps previous questions. Generation has a time limit and shares AI load control.

20261006-h12026-10-06

Questions and sources

  • Questions from a PDF are checked against verbatim passages of the document, including from the middle and end. A short list is not padded with questions from the model’s memory.
  • The “Questions” button shows the task status and a preview. After the questions change, the chat refreshes the pool, and a temporary error keeps the previous list.
  • Materials provided to the assistant can be expanded and opened as a PDF. Numbers refer to the file's pages, including the cover and blank pages.

Safety Academy

  • 6 short missions and 18 tasks: separate paths for children and citizens, explanations and reviews of trickier situations.
  • Your own stars and progress for the account in this browser, which you can clear. No time pressure and no lost lives.
  • Quizzes wait until you read the explanation; the 112 call accepts correct information in any order.

202610062026-10-06

Conversation continuity

  • Improved answers to further follow-up questions and references to points in the previous answer.
  • Janek now has more precise rules for continuing a conversation, giving short answers and introducing himself when asked.
  • Improved context retention in long and interrupted exchanges, within the configured history limits.
  • Rejected questions no longer remain as sent. Improved conversation switching and protection against double sending.
  • Once acknowledged, the data processing notice collapses into a short link in the current tab.

Hints and accessibility

  • Suggestions are checked against the available materials, including when read from the cache. If no questions remain after verification, generic questions are not shown.
  • For children, suggestions about self-installation, firefighting and adult responsibilities are filtered out. The list may be shorter.
  • Improved handling of the fallback model with a separate API key and fixed a conflict between generating suggestions and sending a question.
  • A “Retry question” button when the server is busy or the AI has a temporary error. The question and history stay in the same conversation, and a refresh failure no longer permanently blocks the input field.

202610052026-10-05

Tutorial and games

  • Tutorial for Child and Citizen, which can be turned off and launched from the menu. The setting is saved to the account.
  • The alarm games take into account specific combustion sources, the device instructions and Polish materials up to 30.09.2026. Scoring and restarting have been fixed.
  • The kitchen game teaches children to move safely away, warn others and call for help, without putting out the fire themselves.
  • Evacuation routes avoid the smoke entirely. In the maze, you don't need to collect a key before exiting.
  • Cezary Kowalczyk, MSc, has joined the authors.

Account and privacy

  • Sessions are invalidated on logout and security changes. Tokens are no longer stored in localStorage.
  • Mandatory 2FA for administrators and editors, protection against code reuse and encryption of secrets.
  • Improved data export and deletion, caregiver access and automatic retention.
  • An external model requires approval and disclosure before a message is sent. Children use local models.

202609072026-09-07

Answers and safety

  • Improved document passage search and handling of follow-up questions.
  • Strengthened document access control, scanning of uploaded files and session handling.
  • Improved error handling when sending responses and updated dependencies.

App update

  • Unified the server update process and version labelling in the interface and API.
  • Updated the changelog shown in the app.

20260724-h12026-07-24

Games and educational content

  • New guest game: Sky Firefighter — fly a firefighting helicopter, scoop up water and put out a forest fire. The game was created by Robert Śliwiński and is available under the MIT licence.

20260512-h12026-05-12

Games — clearer situations and wording

  • In the game Safe or not? we clarified, among other things, the charger: off, lying unplugged, is a safe example; it's worse when under the pillow there is plugged in and is charging a phone. The frying pan description directly mentions the gas turned on and leaving the kitchen unattended — without the confusing “playing in the room”.
  • In Kitchen: fire in a frying pan a wrong answer at the first step explains that the goal is to escape instead of calling an adult and turning off the gas.
  • In Where should the carbon monoxide alarm go? the bathroom hint separates smoke alarm (steam, humidity) from situations with a gas water heater, where a carbon monoxide alarm may be needed — in line with good practice and the regulations discussed with an adult.
  • In Installing alarms per KG PSP (Polish State Fire Service HQ) for CO levels we consistently use the word carbon monoxide alarm (as in materials for residents).
  • We have also added FAQ, description in games catalogue and the document docs/games-education.md in the repository — with no technical changes to how the app works.

20260511-h62026-05-11

Read answers aloud

  • Browser blocks sound less often when reading responses aloud (including in voice mode with the microphone) — a brief “unlock” of the autoplay policy in line with Chrome, Edge and Safari best practices.
  • If playback still fails, you will see a shorter, calmer message with a suggestion to turn off listening for a moment or click “Read aloud” again.

Documents and help

  • We updated FAQ, privacy policy, terms of service and cookie policy — clearer: what happens locally in the browser (microphone) and what happens on the unit's server when reading aloud; when content may be sent to an external response-generation service only by decision of the Administrator.

Administrator

  • For a persona with a cloud model — a reminder about consent to processing outside the EEA; when this option is disabled in the server configuration, sending a message displays clear message, instead of a generic error.
  • On the page LLM models we added that cloud models are configured in Persona, not like local Ollama models in the download list.

20260511-h52026-05-11

Home page (before sign-in)

  • Three cards “Who the app is for” (children, home and school, games) now have the same layout: icons in the same frame as in the games block, clearer titles and even spacing between title and description. It's easier to see at a glance that this is one section, not three different styles.

20260511-h42026-05-11

Talk to the assistant — clearer windows and consistent avatars

  • Chat windows stay aligned with long entries. Message bubbles now have a clear width limit; long links, tables or very long pasted texts get its own local scrolling instead of “stretching” the whole view.
  • Suggested questions below the input box have a new, compact layout: one column on phones, three on larger screens. They no longer stand apart from the text box — they look like part of the writing panel.
  • Persona avatar (e.g. Firefighter Janek, Płomyczek) is consistent everywhere: in the persona list, in the conversation header and next to every message from the assistant. You no longer see a different icon anywhere than in the admin panel.

Faster first replies (when the assistant runs locally on the server)

  • Optional you can enable preloading the assistant’s “brain” when the server starts, or keep it in memory longer — the default is safe: the first conversation after a break doesn’t have to wait for heavy background preparation.
  • Stability fix: on some configurations the assistant could “think” for a long time or not return an answer at all — this behavior has been removed from the default settings.
  • In the admin panel, in the section “LLM models” there is a button “Load into RAM” — manually prepare the models of all active personas when you want a faster first response after a pause.

Suggested questions — one pool for about a week

  • Suggested conversation questions are being prepared about once every 7 days for the whole persona, rather than from scratch every time the chat opens. In each conversation we randomly pick 3 questions from a larger pool (usually 12–20). This way the server does less “work in advance” for each new chat window.
  • The pool is based on primarily on the content of uploaded PDF documents (questions created when they were loaded); when there is little material, the assistant generates the missing ideas. The set stays consistent for a week, though different conversations may still show different sets of three questions.

Games

  • Where should the carbon monoxide alarm go? — the game was previously called “Where to hang the detector?”. We now use a name consistent with Polish law and PSP terminology. We also corrected the CO quiz and the descriptions in the game catalogue.

20260511-h32026-05-11

Games — wider boards and new levels

  • Firefighter in Action and Installing alarms per KG PSP (Polish State Fire Service HQ) — the game board now always fits the window (both vertically and horizontally). Previously, on wide screens the board could be so tall that you couldn't see the buttons and hints at the same time.
  • Fire Engine Run — more ambitious: along the way you collect hydrants (a bonus life every 50 units of water), you press Boost (or Space) for a short turbo boost, and on later levels there is rain, and in the last one — night with limited visibility. On the road there are also road workers in yellow vests, which you need to avoid carefully.
  • Get away from the smoke — now has five levels of increasing difficulty. From the third one on, you first need to find key, before the exit door opens. You can go back to earlier levels.

20260511-h22026-05-11

Games

  • Individual game pages fit more easily on one screen — especially on phones: you can expand the longer description only when you want to, and long hints at the bottom have their own short scroll area instead of “dragging” the whole page down.
  • In the quiz Mission: carbon monoxide alarm and in game descriptions we more clearly separate smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm (colloquially called “czad” in Polish, but it means detecting the same gas), just as in the fire service’s materials for families.

Home page and assistant chat

  • The short app tour and the sample questions for the assistant use the same simple wording about alarms — without abbreviations that could suggest unclear terms.

20260511-h12026-05-11

Public page

  • At the top of the page: counter of people currently using the panel and a light/dark theme switch. On phones, links to the Terms of Use and Help are in a convenient side menu, instead of a long horizontal scrollbar. In the footer — total visits (one browser session = one count on first visit) and legal links.

20260510-h162026-05-10

Administration

  • The panel shows who is active now (activity in the last few minutes), and next to the account list: last sign-in and last activity. In event log now include, among other things, a record after successful sign-in and periodic logging of app use. When this version is first deployed, the system administrator needs to update the database.

20260510-h152026-05-10

Changed

  • Game Signs along the evacuation route — real pictograms are displayed ISO 7010 (SVG vectors from Wikimedia Commons, stored in the app), with a note on the source and standard.

20260510-h142026-05-10

What’s new

  • New game Signs along the evacuation route — the child matches a meaning to a simplified sign (exit, direction, fire extinguisher, alarm, assembly point and more); after each answer, a short explanation of how it relates to evacuating safely with an adult.

20260510-h132026-05-10

What’s new

  • New game Fire Engine Run — dodge obstacles across three lanes and reach the finish; six levels of increasing difficulty, controlled with arrow keys or on-screen buttons.

20260510-h122026-05-10

Information

  • We have updated terms of service and privacy policy (clearer legal information). The Terms do not describe technical details such as “RAG” or model names; these remain in the technical deployment documentation.
  • Next to the app name on home page and in help / FAQ now shows the same badge beta as in the dashboard after logging in.

Changed

  • In FAQ there is a new question about the beta; a section on legal documents has also been added to the file README.md in the project repository.

20260510-h112026-05-10

Information

  • The app is marked as beta version — features and appearance may still change. You'll see this next to the name in the panel, on the sign-in page and by the version number, among other places.

Changed

  • Changelog in this tab is written more briefly and from the user's perspective (what you see in the app), not a list of technical changes for administrators.

20260510-h92026-05-10

Fixed

  • When uploading PDF materials, the selected category (collection) no longer keeps jumping back to the first item on the list — the file goes where you want.

20260510-h82026-05-10

Fixed

  • Conversation with persona Citizen uses materials for home and education, not just from the children-only pack — as in the persona description.

20260510-h72026-05-10

Changed

  • Page Start after signing in and the short text in the menu are simpler: they explain why is an app and that it’s about knowledge of fire protection for children and citizens.

20260510-h62026-05-10

Changed

  • Phone and tablet — larger tap targets, a more convenient side menu and chat, and a better fit for screen cutouts (notches) and the browser's bottom bar.

20260510-h52026-05-10

What’s new

  • After signing in, the first screen is Start with a short introduction; the logo in the panel also leads to Home, making it easier to return to the starting point.

20260510-h42026-05-10

What’s new

  • The menu now shows My account : you can change the password, turn on or off two-factor sign-in (an app that generates codes) and download a copy of your data to the file.

20260510-h32026-05-10

Changed

  • An account created via the self-registration form may require approval by the service operator — before you sign in. When signing in, you'll then see a clear message instead of a “hard” error.

20260510-h22026-05-10

What’s new

  • Suggested questions below the chat box no longer change on every visit — making it easier to return to the same thread and the week’s materials.

20260510-h12026-05-10

What’s new

  • Home page and help better described for search engines; public pages (e.g. help, games) may be easier to find on Google. A shorter, clearer description in search results.

20260509-h82026-05-09

What’s new

  • New game Firefighter in Action — a platformer: walk, jump and put out fires with water; several difficulty levels, also playable with on-screen buttons on touchscreens.

20260509-h72026-05-09

What’s new

  • New game Fire Hose — the classic snake game with a firefighting twist: put out fire after fire and avoid collisions; works with a keyboard and on phones.

What’s new (simplified roles and personas)

  • Persona Citizen covers the former uses of the home and school profiles (incl. lesson plans, alarms, evacuation). Removed personas: Plomyczek Educator and Parent Assistant.
  • Database migration 0005_remove_parent_educator — users with the roles parent and educator receive the role Citizen; chats with removed personas are reassigned to Citizen (fallback: Firefighter Janek).

Changed

  • Remaining five roles: Administrator, Editor, Fire service personnel, Citizen, Child. A child account is created by a signed-in citizen or an administrator (/me/children).
  • Updated the home page, FAQ, admin help, README, DPIA and threat model; frontend lib/roles.ts and the persona seed (Janek: Child + Citizen + Administrator).

20260509-h52026-05-09

What’s new

  • Accessibility statement (/dostepnosc): a document compliant with the Act of 4 April 2019 on digital accessibility and the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines: compliance status, excluded content, accessibility features, keyboard shortcuts and the appeal procedure (Polish Commissioner for Human Rights, RPO).
  • Cookie Policy (/cookies): we state clearly that the app does not use marketing or tracking cookies. The table of keys localStorage (token, theme, game progress) and tips on how to clear them.
  • Cookie consent banner — a one-time “Essential local data” notice at the bottom of the page; the choice is remembered in the browser.
  • Hero illustration on the home page — animated SVGs (a firefighter's helmet with a flame, a smoke alarm with a blinking LED, sparks, pulsing rings). Animations turn off with prefers-reduced-motion.
  • Section “Learn Through Play” on the home page promoting educational games.
  • New game: “Installing Alarms per PSP National HQ Guidelines” (/gry/montaz-czujek): 5 levels (bedroom, hallway, kitchen with gas, living room with fireplace, boiler room/garage). Schematic SVG floor plans, 4 candidate spots per level, educational feedback for every decision and stars for a perfect run.

Changed

  • Home page footer — added “Cookies” and “Accessibility” links.
  • Games hub — seven games instead of six (a new “Installing alarms per KG PSP” tile at the top of the list).

20260509-h42026-05-09

What’s new

  • New role Citizen and persona “Citizen” — accessible prevention and safety for everyone (including through the app's educational games). The default role for public sign-up is now Citizen.
  • Persona “Firefighter Instructor” has been renamed to “Firefighter” and described as support for firefighters and rescuers based on source materials.
  • Admin panel: “Game access” (/admin/gry): the admin enables or disables the section /gry for selected roles. A user without access won’t see the menu link and is redirected from the addresses /gry/....
  • Home page: new “Citizen” tile and a slogan without “PSP” (opening up to the general public).

Changed

  • Rate limiting — higher default limits (chat 60/min, login 15/min, upload 40/h) and tolerance for empty variables RATE_LIMIT_* from Docker (the backend replaces them with sensible values).
  • Database seed — a single, idempotent persona upsert loop; existing personas are updated (name, description, system prompt) without slug conflicts.
  • Admin API — the “Game access” save endpoint runs 1 SQL query instead of N (bulk fetch + diff). The audit log entry lists the actual changes.
  • UI — role labels are translated (e.g. “Administrator (admin)”); a shared source of roles in the frontend (lib/roles.ts); a more natural menu label: “Game access”.

Fixed

  • “Request limit exceeded” messages during normal chat use (default chat limit too low).

20260509-h22026-05-09

What’s new

  • Rebranding to Płomyczek 3.0 — a consistent name across the interface, metadata, backend (including TOTP, User-Agent) and documentation.
  • Home page: subtle background (gradient, “orbs”), better section contrast, “Skip to content” link (WCAG 2.4.1), heading hierarchy, aria-label on the navigation, cards as article, visible keyboard focus, respect for prefers-reduced-motion.

20260509-h12026-05-09

What’s new

  • Educational games documentation: file docs/games-education.md (mapping content to Polish regulations and official sources).
  • README — section description Games and a link to the subject-matter documentation.

Changed

  • Games /gry — content checked against the Polish context: 112 (including the role of 998/999), the MSWiA regulation and alarms (quiz, “where the detector goes”, messages), evacuation in the maze, a section with gov.pl links on the games page, FAQ in help.

20260508-h12026-05-08

What’s new

  • New persona KDR PSP — professional support for rescue operations based on materials and procedures.
  • The children’s persona has been updated to “Firefighter Janek” (behavior and response style adapted for children).
  • Added to chat: 3 quick questions below the input box (as in ChatGPT), matched to the active persona.
  • Added to the home page: light/dark mode toggle.
  • Logo Płomyczek 2.0 in the top left corner of the app now leads to the home page.

Changed

  • The Piper TTS engine now uses a per-persona voice profile: for Firefighter Janek a boy's voice profile is used; other personas use the default voice.
  • The chat view shows the active persona more clearly (“You're talking to: ...”), as well as the persona for each item in the conversation list.
  • The assistant no longer duplicates sources in the reply text — citations stay in a dedicated section below the message.

Fixed

  • Removed the forced universal 112 note for every persona — the rule is now contextual and does not override expert persona instructions.
  • Removed the hard 350-token cap on response length; the settings are now respected max tokens from the persona configuration.
  • Sped up LLM responses on Mac by switching the backend to native Ollama (Metal) instead of a CPU-only container.

20260507-h32026-05-07 (fixes)

Fixed

  • The microphone no longer times out right after clicking — it waits until you speak (up to 30 seconds). Once it detects the first sentence, it sends automatically and stops listening.
  • “Read aloud” — reading answers aloud now works reliably, with no conflicts between buttons on different messages.
  • Response generation — no more freezes caused by a conflict between reading an old message and sending a new one.

20260507-h22026-05-07 (fixes)

What’s new

  • Button “Delete all history” in the chat panel — deletes all your conversations after a single confirmation.

Fixed

  • Microphone — the browser now asks for microphone permission before listening for the first time (previously silence, with no permission prompt).
  • “Read aloud” under the assistant’s reply: buttons in different places no longer interfere with each other.
  • A Polish system voice is selected (if installed); it sounds more natural than the default English one.
  • The browser permissions policy now allows the microphone on the site itself (previously it blocked everything).

20260507-h12026-05-07 (fixes)

What’s new

  • Voice assistant in chat: a microphone button (dictate your question) and call mode — you speak, the assistant replies by voice and text, then listens again.
  • The assistant starts speaking while still writing the reply (sentence by sentence), so you wait less.
  • Everything happens in your browser — your voice is not sent to our servers.
  • New help entry: “Can I talk to the assistant by voice?”

202605072026-05-07

What’s new

  • Help for administrators and FAQ for users.
  • Page Changelog and the version number in the footer.
  • Option to enter an API key (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic) directly in the persona — the key is encrypted in the database.
  • Choose an Ollama model from the available list — no need to type the name manually.
  • Response “creativity” presets (0.2 / 0.3 / 0.5 / 0.8).
  • Button Stop while a response is being generated, and automatic stopping when the browser tab is closed.
  • Project authors in the footer: mgr inż. Paweł Bujny, mgr inż. Karol Wilczak.
  • The model stays in memory after first use, so the first question no longer needs a longer wait.

Changed

  • Home page — clearer description without technical jargon.

Fixed

  • Error opening the user list in the admin panel.
  • The first question to the model no longer fails on a “cold start”.

202605062026-05-06

What’s new

  • Activity log in the admin panel (who did what and when).
  • Conversation history for administrators — with the option to hide personal data.
  • The list of your conversations on the left in the chat view.
  • A “thinking…” indicator with a seconds counter while generating.
  • Read-aloud option under every assistant message.
  • Larger context memory — the model better remembers what was discussed earlier.

Fixed

  • The model no longer repeats sentences in its answers.
  • The model takes earlier messages in the conversation into account.
  • Uploading PDF files (directory permissions issue).

202605052026-05-05

First version

  • Sign-in with a strong password, lockout after failed attempts and a two-step code (TOTP).
  • Initial model of roles and personas (it has evolved — as of 20260509-h6: five roles: admin, editor, firefighter, citizen, child; four personas: Firefighter Janek, Citizen, Firefighter, KDR PSP).
  • Uploading materials (PDF) with file-type checking and antivirus scanning.
  • Answers generated from your materials (with source citations).
  • Security: protective headers, audit log, masking of personal data in logs.
